Hiroshi “Sonny” Inouye, 87, of Hilo died March 7, 2013, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born March 29, 1925, in Pepeekeo, he was a retired painting supervisor for the State Department of Accounting and General Services, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Papaikou Hongwanji Mission and Paukaa Community Association.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. March 15 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by wife, Evelyn Inouye, of Hilo; sons, Craig (Gail) Inouye, of Hilo, Dwayne Inouye, of Kona; daughter, Doreen (Dennis) Koizumi, of Hilo; brothers, Alex Inouye, of Pepeekeo, Harry (Takeko) Inouye, of San Francisco, Calif., Walter (Ellen) Inouye, of Honolulu; sister, Patsy Adachi, of Hilo; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
